Meet Your Texas Therapist for Anxiety and Trauma

About Me

Therapy That’s Real, Compassionate, and Gets to the Point

You’ve been holding it together for everyone else, but inside, you’re exhausted. Maybe anxiety has taken over, past trauma keeps popping up, or you’re just tired of feeling like you’re never really okay.

If you’re looking for anxiety therapy in Texas or need support healing from trauma, you’re in the right place.

I offer a space where you can be fully yourself, no judgment, no pressure. Just real conversations, effective tools, and a chance to breathe again. Whether you’re dealing with old wounds, new stress, or you’re just tired of spinning your wheels, I’m here to help.

Who I Help

Many of the people I work with are high-functioning, thoughtful, and deeply self-aware. They often know what needs to change, understand their patterns, and can explain their anxiety perfectly and still feel stuck when fear takes over. If that sounds familiar, you’re very much in the right place.

I specialize in working with people in DFW across Texas who are navigating:

  • Anxiety and overthinking
  • Trauma (including complex or childhood trauma)
  • Burnout, grief, or changing relationships
  • People-pleasing, perfectionism, and high-functioning overwhelm

My approach to trauma therapy in Texas is practical and supportive. I blend EMDR, cognitive techniques, nervous system regulation, and humor to help you feel safe, grounded, and powerful, not just in sessions, but in your real life.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods and asks, “How does that make you feel?”

Therapy with me is collaborative, supportive, and sometimes a little silly. If you’re not down with sarcasm I might look real awkward pretty often. I’ll walk with you through the hard stuff—at your pace—and help you understand what’s going on beneath the surface. We don’t just talk about what you do — we pay attention to what happens in your body when fear shows up and quietly shuts movement down.

If you’re considering EMDR in Texas, I tailor it to your style and comfort level, especially if you’re someone who understands your anxiety but still feels blocked when it’s time to move forward.

Whether we ease in with preparation or get to the hard work quickly, you’ll know the “why” behind every step we take. As a self professed neuroscience nerd I’m practically incapable of not dropping little tidbits about your brain and why I’m doing what I’m doing in a session.

Jessie Tirrell Trauma Therapy, Anxiety Specialist

I found my best self in helping others—and I live by the motto, “Why not me?” That mindset has guided my work as a therapist and advocate for adults, children, and families facing anxiety, trauma, and more.

Over the years, I’ve developed a passion for supporting people with less common struggles, including PTSD, OCD and other complex conditions. I believe everyone deserves access to specialized, compassionate care, and I’m here to provide just that.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a mom of four wildly fun kids. As a family, we hike, garden, camp, kayak, and binge more sci-fi than I’d like to admit. I’m a proud dog lover with two rescues, neither of whom passed the therapy dog vibe check (one probably needs therapy herself), but we love them anyway.

I’m also a self-taught baker, quilter, and painter and I’ve rarely met a craft I could say no to (just ask my craft closet). If you’re up for it, I’ll happily debate Star Trek vs. Star Wars and might even convince you that Babylon 5 deserves a spot on your watchlist.

Credentials (Without the Jargon)

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW-S) with over 20 years of experience. That means I have had a lot of supervision and training and a ton of boots on the ground experience as a therapist. I provide in person and online anxiety therapy, trauma therapy, and EMDR throughout Texas. I’m certified for a LOT of different problems in methods that work. If you have OCD, complex PTSD, depression, phobias, or more than just general anxiety I have all the letters that mean I know what to do, and what to try next if that doesn’t connect for you.

Before private practice, I worked in community mental health as an adoptive and foster care specialist, treatment director, and a trauma focused therapist. I have supported clients through everything from daily stress to deep, long-standing trauma. Clients describe me as warm, smart, and a little dark-humored—in the best way. After many years treating the world’s problems with nothing but snacks, bandaids, a smile and some crayons I’m not scared of tackling problems when resources are low.

If you want a therapist who gets you, laughs with you, and doesn’t pile on when you’re stuck in a pattern, you’re in the right place.
